These crispy and sticky fried cheese sticks are the ultimate solution to your snack and appetizer needs!

If you’re like me, one of your all-time favorite appetizers is the mozzarella sticks. Where did these fried cheeses come from!

* Ingredients :

° 10 ounces mozzarella cheese (or 10 sticks)

° 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs

° 1 cup flour

° 2 eggs

° 1/4 cup milk

° cayenne pepper (optional)

* Directions :

Take a cutting board and chop the cheese sticks into bite-size pieces.

In a medium-sized bowl, add eggs and whisk to break them up. Add milk and whisk again to combine the two ingredients.

Set aside two more bowls. Fill one with flour and the other with breadcrumbs. Place the bowl with the egg and milk mixture in the middle of this line, so you now have three bowls in a row (flour, eggs, breadcrumbs).

Take one piece of mozzarella cheese. Dip it in the flour and then directly into the egg mixture. Now, roll your piece of cheese in breadcrumbs. Keep doing this until all the cheese pieces are coated. You can place each finished piece on a plate once it is complete.

In a medium skillet, heat vegetable oil (about 2 inches high) to 350 degrees. (To test this, put the handle of a wooden spoon into the oil. If bubbles are rolling on the handle, you’re ready.)

Pull out a plate and line it with a paper towel.

Add 5-7 pieces into the oil for 30 seconds. Make sure to keep them separate so they don’t stick together!

Fry the mozzarella bites until golden brown (which should be at the 30-second mark). Using a perforated spoon, remove the pieces from the oil and place them on paper towels.

Repeat this process in different batches until you have fried all your bites.

Serve immediately with pasta sauce or eat it on its own!

Enjoy !
