Certainly! Pepper steak is a popular stir-fried Chinese-American dish that typically features thinly sliced beef and bell peppers. Here’s a basic recipe for making Pepper Steak:

Ingredients:

1 lb beef steak (such as flank or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon ginger, minced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, thinly sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips

1/2 cup beef broth or water

1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

1.Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch. Mix well. Add the sliced beef and mix until the beef is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes.

2.Stir-fry: Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Once hot, add the beef slices in a single layer and sear until browned. Do not overcrowd the pan; you might have to cook the beef in batches. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

3.In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the ginger and garlic, sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until the vegetables are slightly tender.

4.Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the beef broth, remaining soy sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), black pepper, and sugar (if using). Pour this mixture over the vegetables in the skillet.

5.Return the beef to the skillet. Stir everything well to combine and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

6.Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.

7.Serve: Transfer the pepper steak to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
