Ingredients:
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 medium white onion, diced
1 medium green bell pepper, diced
2 pounds ground beef
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
1 (14.5 ounce) can beef broth
¼ cup steak sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons minced pickled jalapeno peppers
1 tablespoon pickled jalapeno pepper juice
1 teaspoon Creole seasoning , or to taste
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
8 slices provolone cheese
1 (16 ounce) package wheat hamburger buns, split and toasted
Instructions:
1️⃣ In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Sauté the onion and bell pepper until they’re soft and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
2️⃣ Add the ground beef, garlic, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is thoroughly browned and crumbly, about 7-8 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
3️⃣ Stir in the beef broth, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, jalapeno peppers and juice, and Creole seasoning. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
4️⃣ While the beef simmers, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
5️⃣ Add the cornstarch slurry to the beef mixture, stirring constantly, until it reaches your desired thickness, about 1-2 minutes. Adjust the seasoning with more Creole seasoning and pepper if needed.
6️⃣ Remove the pot from the heat. Place a slice of provolone cheese over the beef mixture and let it melt.
7️⃣ Carefully scoop the cheesy beef mixture onto the toasted buns, ensuring each sandwich gets a good portion of melted cheese.
8️⃣ Serve the sandwiches hot and enjoy the melty, savory goodness of your Cheesy Beef & Pepper Sandwich Delight!
